NORDIC WALKING
In the 1930s, in order to continue training in snowless periods, Finnish skiers began to simulate walking on skis by running with poles on the ground or on an asphalt road. Officially, this training method was first described in 1979 in the work of Mauri Repo, a Finnish coach and instructor who is considered to be the founder of Scandinavian walking. This technique was picked up by Swedish and Norwegian skiers and later by athletes from other countries. In the late 1990s, Marko Kantaneva, a Finnish sports instructor, founded the Original Nordic Walking Technique. The first professional poles were developed and produced during this period, and the term “Nordic walking” itself was popularised.

ARCHERY
The art of archery originated in the late Palaeolithic or early Mesolithic era. The oldest finds related to archery date back to the eighth-ninth millennium BC. Historically, archery was needed for hunting and warfare. Bows were used for this purpose almost everywhere. Only in Australia and Oceania the art of archery was not known until the 19th century. The bow was last used in major battles at the beginning of the 19th century.

OUTDOOR GYM
In ancient times, tools at hand were used as exercise equipment, such as heavy stones, massive metal bats, and even bull calves, which grew every day, and therefore, the load on the muscles increased. Open-air playgrounds, running tracks, and gymnasiums were common in ancient Greece and Rome. Eastern masters created a wooden dummy to train coordination and accuracy of strikes and developed a training technique with more than 100 movements.
TABLE TENNIS
This sport uses special rackets and a game table divided by a grid in half. The game can take place between two opponents or two pairs of opponents. The player’s task is to keep the ball in the game with the help of rackets – each player, after one bounce of the ball on his half of the table, each player must send the ball to the opponent’s half of the table. A point is awarded to a player when the opponent cannot return the ball according to the rules. According to modern international rules, each game lasts up to 11 points. A match consists of an odd number of games and is played for the majority of wins in games.
Types:
1х1, 2х2
BILLIARDS
Billiards is a game played with balls on a specially equipped table with the help of a long, thin stick (cue) and a set of balls. The idea of the game is to hit a ball on the table with a stick and aim at another ball with this ball. For the most part, the player’s goal is to knock one of the balls into a special hole at the edge of the table (pocket); the goal of colliding two balls depends on the type of pool game itself.
Billiards appeared in France in the 15th century. The first written mention concerns the French king Louis XI, who ordered a billiard table for himself in 1470. Interestingly, before that, the game was played in the open air, so the green cloth of the pool table was traditionally associated with green grass. The game at that time was significantly different from today’s one. On the table with six pockets were hoops that played the role of goalposts, as in croquet, and a peg that stood vertically. The game was played with only two balls, which were not pushed, as they do now, but they were hit with wooden sticks like in a croquet game to hit a peg. It was inconvenient to hit the ball with a stick when the ball was near the edge of the table, so at the end of the 17th century, the cue was invented. At first, players simply turned the stick over and hit the balls with its handle. The handle was called ‘queue’, which means ‘tail, end’, hence the word ‘cue’. In the 18th century, wicketkeepers with a stick disappeared from the table altogether, only balls and a cue remained.
There are different types of billiards:
pool (eight-, nine-ball), russian billiards or Pyramid (American, Moscow pyramid and Neva pyramid), carom (one-sided, two-sided, three-sided), snooker (classic – 15 balls, short – 6 balls).
FISHING
Fishing is a nice opportunity to achieve harmony with nature, relax in the open air through the beautiful singing of the island’s birds, and watch for wild ducks and beavers, as Trukhaniv Island is a reserve where rare species of plants and animals live.
Metal detectors
A metal detector is a device capable of detecting the presence of metals under the ground, sand, water, etc. The metal detector emits electromagnetic waves that ‘contact’ substances in different ways, making it possible to detect highly conductive components in a neutral environment, namely noble and ferrous metals.
Invincibility point
In complex conditions of present-day life, the GDIP team has been prepared for a prolonged blackout or heat cutting off by establishing a point of invincibility at the territory of the Sports and Diplomatic Club.
Among available resources are heating, water, light, mobile connection and high-speed internet, ensured by Starlink terminal, mobile phone charging stations, places for rest, coffee, tea and snacks.
